Creative Thinking

What is Creativity?
Creativity” is bringing into being something that was not there before.

Create: to cause, to exist, to produce, to make
Creative :producing NEW and ORIGINAL ideas and things
Creativity :the ability to produce NEW and  ORIGINAL ideas and things

Creativity refers to ANYTHING someone does in a way that is ORIGINAL to the creator and that is appropriate to the PURPOSE OR GOAL of the creator.

Anything : e.g. plan a learning schedule, write a
song lyric, play tennis, arrange a room,    cook a meal, etc.
Original : original to the creator
Purpose or goal: it must have “value” and it has to work!
Creative or innovative thinking is the kind of thinking that leads to new insights, novel approaches, fresh perspectives, whole new ways of understanding and conceiving of things .

ability – attitude - process
An Ability.
A simple definition is that creativity is the ability to imagine or invent something new. …. the ability to generate new ideas by combining, changing, or reapplying existing ideas.

An Attitude.
Creativity is also an attitude: the ability to accept change and newness, a willingness to play with ideas and possibilities, a flexibility of outlook, the habit of enjoying the good, while looking for ways to improve it.

I can’t do it! / There’s nothing I can do
“I’m not smart enough”
“We’re not trained to do this”
“Only an expert can do this”
A Process
Creative people work hard and continually to improve ideas and solutions, by making gradual alterations and refinements to their works
